Office 2007 OEM

Postby tonydav » Wed May 26, 2010 1:04:03 pm

I have a legal copy of Office 2007 Basic OEM that I'm trying to install on my system. Also have the OEM kit install kit. From memory, some time ago I installed it and ran the trial for the 90 days (I think - some time ago).

Now when I install the OEM version it appears to work. Then upon first time running asks for the code. Enter the code and get the green tick. Does its customisation and runs. But the apps are in locked out mode (essentially viewer mode). Running Activate from Outlook does nothing - i.e. no activate program is run.

I've looked on the MS forums and as far as I can tell it relates to MS policy that you can't install an OEM version after you have an expired trial of an OEM version. Need the $$$ retail version.

Tried their fix to remove all traces, but didn't work and I'm sure it doesn't remove whatever thing they have in place to determine if you've had a trial.

I'm sure a rebuild would work but I have some software on here that I will have real difficulty getting reinstalled, hence not an option.

Any ideas on how to enable me to install the OEM version?

I don't know if it will work but I think you can try this patch.
MSO_12.0.6529.5000.rar

Extract MSO.dll inside this rar and place it at: %CommonProgramFiles%\microsoft shared\OFFICE12

That was a no-go I'm afraid. After installation it asked for the product code, which I entered and it was accepted. But it never asked to activate the product, and after the first time running the apps it returned to view only mode.

You should first of all delete the serial key / product code in the register:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\

In that path you should find at least one dir with a name like
90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE
It will not be exact since you are using the OEM version but inside of that dir you should find the keys:
- DigitalProductID
- ProductID
Just delete them and that will make office ask again for serial.
Replace the DLL with the patched one.

After that you should use one of the serials provided by maorosh in the post linked by neweracracker and proceed replacing the DLL, if everything is OK them you should be able to proceed with the activation and will be good to go.
